Rana’s main areas of interest are relationship therapy (she is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy for relationships and individuals) and the treatment of developmental and attachment trauma.
She is also passionate about supporting those who support others- with a significant proportion of her caseload providing therapy for other therapists and counselors.
Rana is also an advocate for transgender and sexually diverse folks and has experience working with people who are queer, questioning their gender or sexuality, and with transgender adults at all stages of their transition journey.
Rana provides Emotionally Focused Therapy for all kinds of relationships- including all types of intimate relationships. She can support repair of relational injuries, relationship reconnection, relationship enhancement, and sexual connection.
Rana works with individual adults requiring treatment for a range of presenting issues including depression, anxiety, relational distress, trauma, and grief & loss. She does not provide cognitive or neuropsychological assessment services.
Rana’s primary treatment modalities are Emotionally Focussed Therapy for Couples (EFT-C), Emotionally Focussed Individual Therapy (EFiT) and Sensorimotor Therapy for developmental and attachment trauma. She also draws on experience and expertise from a number of other modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and neurobiological approaches to trauma.
Rana embraces diversity in the humans she is privileged to work with.
This includes diversity of sexuality, diversity of gender, cultural diversity and neurodiversity. Rana is also embracing of all relationship types- including dyadic, polyamorous, monogamous or consensually non-monogamous relationships and values their relationships in all forms. Rana is herself part of the ‘dominant group’- heterosexual, monogamous, and cisgendered- and is aware of the privilege that comes from this place.
She is also from the dominant cultural group as a white person of English descent and acknowledges the privilege of this. Whether she is part of the neurotypical group is yet the be determined- although many neurodiverse clients over the years have suggested that she may not be. ; )
Rana prioritises acceptance and emotional safety in her relationships with others and embraces all relationship types, individuals who identify as LGBTQIA+, all sexualities, all genders, all cultures and all neurotypes.
One of Rana’s mentors is the wonderful Dr. Clare Rosoman (EFT Trainer, Supervisor and Therapist)- and she guides Rana closely around her understanding and stance on diversity and inclusion. If you would like to read more about this- there are many wonderful resources on her website:
Unfortunately, her current clinic location is not inclusive of those with diversity of mobility (as it is up a set of stairs).
